Moses delighted with last-gasp winner for Chelsea against Shakhtar

The 21-year-old came off the bench to head home Juan Mata's late corner against the tough opposition and continue his recent scoring spree, as the Blues move joint-top of Group E

Victor Moses revealed his delight at heading home the last-gasp winner for Chelsea against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

The Blues, who were beaten at the Donbass Arena two weeks ago, were pipped back by the Ukrainian champions twice before the summer signing rose to convert Juan Mata’s haeder with just seconds remaining.

Chelsea were outplayed for long periods by the visitors, but now find themselves level with Donetsk on seven points at the top of Group E.

"We deserved to win the game today, particularly second half, we dominated the game," Moses told Sky Sports after the game.

"I came on and only played about 10 minutes on the pitch but it was great to get a winning goal and I thought we deserved it.

"The three goals I've scored for the club have been headers, it's been great for me so far so I'm just delighted."

Fernando Torres gave the home side the lead after just six minutes, when he charged down goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov's attempted clearance, but the lead was short-lived as Willian soon hauled the visitors level.

The shot-stopper again gifted the home side the lead when he rushed out to intercept a long ball forward, only for Oscar to pounce on the clearance and hit a stunning 45-yard half-volley into the empty net five minutes before the break.

"At the start, he was bad at kicking out from the back and we capitalised from it. Oscar scored a goal, but we just wanted to do our best and we're delighted with the three points," Moses added.

Meanwhile, Gary Cahill complimented the attacking talent the visitors possess, and conceded Chelsea probably would have taken a point heading into the clash.

"We knew after we played them in the first game and they were fantastic tonight," Cahill said.

"At times it looked like they played five up front, the full-backs pushed forward and at times it was end-to-end stuff but I thought we did well, we played some good stuff. But they're a fantastic team and it's a great three points for us tonight.

"We kept pushing like we have done many times this season and we nicked the win. It was a great, important header from Vic, he got another one on Saturday so it's a great impact. We stressed before the game how big a win would be tonight so it's fantastic we got over the line and got a win."
