Manchester United manager David Moyes is due to return from his holidays later this week and will waste no time in laying out his transfer plans with incoming club CEO Ed Woodward, Goal understands.

Moyes began work at Carrington on May 20 despite an official start date of July 1 and United staff are already in place to ensure that the Scot can hit the ground running upon his return.

Woodward has been in a handover process with predecessor David Gill in recent weeks and will meet Moyes for the first time as United look to make progress in the summer transfer market.

The situation regarding Wayne Rooney and Nani will feature prominently in talks between the two, with both men linked to summer exits.

Goal exclusively revealed on Saturday how Rooney has held secret talks with two suitors, with Arsenal well in the frame for the striker, while Galatasaray president Unal Aysal has claimed that United want £8.5 million for Nani.

Also on the agenda will be transfer targets and budget. Barcelona midfielder Thiago is in United's sights but the club's vast outlay on Robin van Persie last summer will limit their spending this time around.

The working relationship between Sir Alex Ferguson and Gill was a key part in the Red Devils' recent success and much will depend on how Moyes and Woodward interact.

And whereas Gill did much of his work at Carrington, Woodward will largely remain in his Mayfair office in London.

Moyes has already made his mark at Carrington, with loyal servants to Ferguson such as assistant manager Mike Phelan and goalkeeping coach Eric Steele having been shown the door. The 50-year-old is also keen to get involved in training sessions, as revealed in Sunday's Sweeper.
