Fulham's experienced squad will prove the difference in relegation battle, says Frimpong

Fulham's experienced squad will prove the difference in relegation battle, says Frimpong

The 21-year-old midfielder has joined the Cottagers on loan from Arsenal until the end of the season and is certain Martin Jol's men will pull away from the bottom three

Fulham loanee Emmanuel Frimpong is confident the Cottagers will not be dragged into the Premier League relegation fight.

The west Londoners have experienced a significant dip in form in recent weeks, winning just two of their last 15 league games, meaning they sit just six points and four places above the relegation zone ahead of the visit of West Ham on Wednesday night.

And Frimpong, who could make his debut for the club after joining on loan from Arsenal for the remainder of the season, believes the high number of experienced professionals in the Fulham dressing room will see results improve.

He told Sky Sports: "The lads are very calm, I think when you are in a position like Fulham are at the moment you need players to be calm and not to panic.

"Every team goes through a patch in the season when you're not getting results. As long as the manager and the team know there are players that can perform and it is only a little slip, I think we will be fine.

"We have some experienced players in the changing room, obviously the captain Brede Hangeland, Damien Duff and Dimitar Berbatov. You have got some very experienced players and I don't think we should start panicking yet. I think we will be fine."

The Ghanaian-born player's loan move to Craven Cottage marks his third temporary switch in 12 months after spells with Wolves and Charlton, and Frimpong is relishing the prospect of increased first-team opportunities in the Premier League.

He continued: "It has been a very good start. Obviously I came in on Monday and saw some of the lads."

"It has been good training and the lads have been really welcoming to me so I am looking forward to my first game. Hopefully the manager will pick me but he has not given the team away yet. I would like to feature but we will have to wait and see.

"The first thing I want to achieve is get playing - that is the main reason I came here. To play in the team I have to make sure that I am playing well every week or whenever the manager calls me.

"That is the main aim, to come here and play football and until the summer then see what happens.
"My strongest attribute is probably tackling and getting tight to a midfielder. I like to fight for the ball, fight for my team and hopefully I can bring that to Fulham and help my team."
