Szczesny: I am getting back to my best after struggling for form

Szczesny: I am getting back to my best after struggling for form

The 22-year-old is happy to be fit again and is hoping he can avoid the injuries that hampered him at the beginning of the season and help the Gunners climb the table

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny believes he has struggled for form lately but is keen to help the club climb up back up the Premier League table.

The first-choice shot-stopper has managed just six league appearances for the north London club this term after struggling with ankle and rib injuries but believes he is finding his feet again after long periods on the sidelines.

"I admit it has been a difficult few months," Szczesny told the club's official website. "I found it hard to adjust playing with little injuries and knocks, especially in the last couple of months of last season.

"But I am pretty much sharper and fitter now, looking forward to getting back to my best and leaving those difficult times behind.

"I am feeling really sharp in every game, and the manager is sticking with me, which is really good, so I just want to get back to my best as quick as I can because I have not been at my best for the last few months."

Arsenal confirmed their worst start to a Premier League campaign in 16 years under Arsene Wenger’s tutorage with the 2-0 loss to Swansea City on Saturday, leaving the club languishing in 10th place with just one league win six games - 15 points behind leaders Manchester United.

And Szczesny is keen to boost the club’s performances, adding that the talent within their ranks is not being represented by their standing in the league table.

He continued: "I am definitely surprised by our position in the league, because when you have the quality of our players, we should be fighting for trophies and we do have one of the best teams in the Premier League.

"Our fans do not deserve to see us 10th in the table, but it is our responsibility to put things right and make sure we get back to where we belong."
