TEAM NEWS: Benitez recalls Torres as Kompany shakes off knock to start for Manchester City
The new Chelsea boss recalls the Spanish striker for the Stamford Bridge meeting with the Premier League champions, who pair Edin Dzeko with Sergio Aguero in attack
New Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez has recalled Fernando Torres to the side for their clash with Premier League champions Manchester City.The Spaniard was left out of Roberto Di Matteo's final starting XI at Juventus on Tuesday, but the former Liverpool manager has brought the man he managed at Anfield back into the fold.
Gary Cahill drops out of the centre of defence, with Branislav Ivanovic slotting into the middle. Cesar Azilpilcueta starts at right-back.
City captain Vincent Kompany is fit to start after recovering from a knee problem which he picked up in the 1-1 draw with Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Edin Dzeko is also given a starting berth after frequently scoring as a substitute this season. He partners Sergio Aguero in attack.
Chelsea starting XI: Cech; Azpilicueta; Luiz, Ivanovic, Cole; Mikel, Ramires, Mata, Oscar, Hazard; Torres.
Subs: Turnbull, Ferreira, Cahill, Bertrand, Romeu, Marin, Moses.
Manchester City starting XI: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Kolarov, Barry, Yaya Toure, Silva, Milner, Dzeko, Aguero.
Subs: Pantilimon, Maicon, Nasri, Garcia, Kolo Toure, Tevez, Balotelli.
