thumbnail Hello,

The 37-year-old will play a part in this weekend's fixtures before making his full return on Wednesday evening, when he will take charge of Southampton v Norwich City

The Premier League have announced that referee Mark Clattenburg is set to return to his duties on Sunday for Tottenham's home game against West Ham.

However, he will be welcomed back in the fourth official role for the game at White Hart Lane and will not be back on refereeing duty until Wednesday, where he will take charge of the Premier League encounter between Southampton and Norwich.

It brings an end to a torrid past few weeks for the referee, after he was accused of using "inappropriate language" - allegedly interpreted as racism - towards John Obi Mikel whilst officiating Chelsea's top-flight match against Manchester United in October.

He has recently been cleared by the FA of those allegations, and upon hearing the news expressed his relief at what he described as a "truly frightening" experience.

"To know you were innocent of something but there was the opportunity for it to wreck your career was truly frightening," he said.

"We're proud of integrity of refereeing in this country. I can't wait to be back involved in game I care so passionately about.

"I am looking forward to putting this behind me and concentrating on refereeing in the Premier League and other competitions."
