Cameroon in search of new coach

The Cameroon Football Federation has been asked to open an urgent call for applications for the post of a head coach

The Cameroonian ministry of sports has instructed the Football Federation (Fecafoot) to launch an urgent call for applications to the post of the national team coach, reports in the central African country said on Monday.

Sports minister Adoum Garoua had a closed door meeting with the Indomitable Lions coach Jean-Paul Akono and his assistant Martin Ndtoungou Mpille on Friday, but nothing filtered out of the conclave.

Akono, who came on board four months ago, is yet to be offered an official contract by the authorities. However, it is yet unclear whether the officials will replace him soon.

Cameroon are leaders of Group I of the 2014 World Cup qualifying with six points and will face Ukraine in an international friendly on June 6 before Togo and DR Congo on June 9 and 16 respectively in the World Cup qualifying.
