The Fifa boss has expressed his sympathy to the families of the three players of DC Motem Pembe who were killed in a car accident on their way from church

Fifa President Joseph Blatter on Wednesday sent his condolences to the Democratic Republic of Congo following the tragic death of three players of Kinshasa-based club DC Motem Pembe on the eve of Easter Friday.

Goalkeeper Dibulama Metondo Guelord, striker Mwanza Lemba and midfielder Dede Moyenge were returning from church service on Thursday when their car was hit by a truck. The three players died instantly according to police report.

“On behalf of Fifa and on my own behalf, I extend to you and to the Congolese Football Federation, my most sincere condolences,” Blatter wrote in a message to Constant Omari Selemani, President of the Fecofa, the DR Congo FA.

“I would be grateful also if you could send to the families of Mr. Dibulama Matondo Guelord, Mr Mwanza and Mr Lemba Moyenge Dede, their relatives, as well as their club DC Motem Pembe all the sympathy and support of the international football family in these difficult moments,” the statement added.

Two other passengers in the car, including Mbindi, who also plays for Motem Pembe, survived but sustained serious injuries, a doctor’s report said.
