The Tottenham left back has notified the Indomitable Lions coach he would not be travelling to Cameroon for the World Cup qualifier against Togo
Tottenham Hotspur defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has joined the growing list of players Cameroon coach Jean-Paul Akono will be missing on Saturday during the clash against visiting Togo in the 2014 World Cup qualifying.
The 28-year-old left back, who has not played with the Indomitable Lions for almost two years, pulled out of the squad on Wednesday due to family reasons.
No details were given by the Lions coach, who will also be doing without injured defenders Danny Nounkeu and Aurelien Chedjou of Galatasaray and Lille respectively.
Cameroon will play host to Group I bottom-placed Togo on Saturday in Yaoundé, while leaders Libya and second-placed DR Congo will lock horns in Kinshasa on Sunday.
