Van Praag: Action will be taken over Fifa 13 criticism
The chairman of the Dutch FA says action will be taken after parents were critical of players behaviour towards referees in the game
The chairman of the Dutch FA (KNVB) Michael van Praag has said he has brought recent criticism of Fifa 13 to the attention of football's world governing body.Parents have made complaints regarding the way players react to refereeing decisions on the Playstation game, which is EA Sports' latest edition of the Fifa computer game franchise.
"I responded to the request of many parents to change the way players react to referees on the Fifa PlayStation Game," Van Praag wrote on Twitter.
"I did so by mentioning the problem at the Fifa Associations Committee. They will deal with it."
Players are seen berating officials after making key decisions, and some parents believe the game may influence children's behaviour.
"A lot of parents are annoyed by it. It's like Fifa is teaching young kids that this is normal," Van Praag continued.
"Parents have asked the Dutch FA to ask Fifa and EA to ban protesting players from the video game."
But Van Praag was quick to defend Fifa itself, confirming that they do not create the game.
"Fifa doesn't make these games itself. It gives a license to a company that makes games."
The Dutch FA are yet to release a statement regarding the situation.
