Sevilla-Real Zaragoza Betting Preview: Why under 2.5 goals looks a nailed on selection

Sevilla-Real Zaragoza Betting Preview: Why under 2.5 goals looks a nailed on selection

Latest Barcelona-Sevilla Betting Preview: Back both teams to score at Camp Nou Previous
By Phil Kitromilides
Jan 23, 2013 2:00:00 PM

Our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides believes another low scoring encounter between these two sides is in prospect tonight and it is available to back at 11/10

The first leg of this Copa del Rey quarter final clash between these two sides was much like an anecdote recounted to a goldfish; instantly forgotten.

Those of us unfortunate enough to have witnessed the entire spectacle (and the term spectacle is used in the loosest sense of the word) would struggle to remember a single piece of excitement in a match which ended 0-0.

Fortunately for spectactors and punters alike the second leg should prove to be a much more entertaining affair, not least because both sides will feel they have to score. Sevilla are the overwhelming favourites enjoying as they do home advantage for tonight's match and Bet365 price them at 2/5 (1.40) for the win.

That looks a little small for a side devoid of any confidence, stability or fluency to their play. Similarly the price of 7/1 (8.00) for a Zaragoza victory might have been justified when Sevilla were a force at the Sanchez Pizjuan, but given their current state, those odds look generous.

That is not to say that Zaragoza are much better off than Sevilla, with just a point and a single place separating the sides in the table.

But having won three of their last five away games in all competitions, there could be some value in backing Zaragoza at least in the "Draw No Bet" market which is offered at 5/1 (6.00). If the match ends in a stalemate, you'd get your stake back.

But for those looking for the best bet should invest in another low scoring encounter with the price of 11/10 (2.10) extremely temtping.

Zaragoza are the undisputed kings of the under 2.5 goals bet in Spain with this selection having paid out in nine of their last 10 competitive fixtures. Sevilla meanwhile have seen less than three goals in four of their last five matches, which makes this bet almost too good to turn down.
