Fulham - Sunderland Betting Preview: Cottagers can start strongly but expect grit from O'Neill's men

The visitors are looking for their first away win of the season in west London, but while Adam Bate expects a tight game, he doesn't think it will come against Martin Jol's men
Sunderland will be looking to end their miserable slide down the Premier League table when they travel to Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

But that won’t be easy against Martin Jol’s free-flowing side at Craven Cottage where the home side have picked up 10 points from five games this season.

Fulham will fancy their chances of maintaining their push for a top-half finish with three points here and can be backed at 3/4 (1.75) with Marathon Bet.

Martin O’Neill spent big money on Steven Fletcher and Adam Johnson in the summer and retains the backing of supporters who will be hoping it is just a matter of time before the manager turns it around.

This is the sort of game where he needs to show his players can grind out a result and the Black Cats are 43/10 (5.30) with Marathon Bet to do just that here. The draw is available at 11/4 (3.75).

Despite their poor form, Sunderland have actually only lost three times in the Premier League – the same number as Fulham – so backing them in the double chance market at 59/50 (2.18) may be tempting.

That’s because they’ve been reliant on keeping things tight – two of their six away games this season have been goalless. The 0-0 draw is at 11/1 (12.00) in this one.

But keeping the Cottagers out seems unlikely – they’ve scored in every home game this season and even more impressively they’ve scored first too.

Against the Premier League’s lowest goalscorers that is the pick of the bets in this one. Back Fulham to score first at 14/25 (1.56) with Marathon Bet.

But for the value bet it would be no surprise to see Sunderland show a bit of fight in front of the television cameras.

Fulham have drawn the last three and Sunderland have drawn six out of 10 this season, including four of their six away games.

So expect another tight contest here. Back the draw at 11/4 (3.75) with Marathon Bet as a good value option in this one.
