Wales - Scotland Betting Preview: Bale the best hope for goals in a low-scoring encounter

With both managers in need of a morale-boosting win, Friday's match at the Cardiff City Stadium should be a tense affair. Al Hain-Cole thinks goals will be far and few between
With two games gone in Group A, British rivals Wales and Scotland are in desperate need for a victory to get their World Cup qualification campaigns up and running.

The pressure on Chris Coleman is particularly acute, as his Welsh side have lost all four games since he took full command, the last of which was a 6-1 thrashing by Serbia.

With a full Cardiff City Stadium crowd behind him, this could be the perfect opportunity for the new boss to get off that mark, and you can back a home win at odds of 7/4 (2.75) with Bet365.

Craig Levein is also walking on thin ice in the Scotland dugout due to some disappointing results and uninspiring tactics, but his side are slight favourites to pick up their first three points here, at odds of 8/5 (2.60).

A draw hasn’t taken place between these two sides since 1985, but you can get odds of 11/5 (3.20) on them each coming away with an unsatisfying point on Friday.

The main problem for both under-fire managers has been a lack of goals, as Wales in particular have only hit the back off the net once in the last five games.

Scotland have managed to score more than one goal in just four of their last 11 competitive matches, and their defensive set-up should ensure a low-scoring affair in Cardiff.

Backing under 2.5 goals must be the way to go here, and you can get odds of 8/13 (1.62) on that coming to pass.

One man who is capable of breaking the deadlock is Welsh winger Gareth Bale, whose star quality makes him stand out every time The Dragons take to the field.

The Tottenham attacker has been on the scoresheet in the last four games where his team have successfully hit the back of the net, so such a rich source of goals must be worth backing to score in this match at attractive 3/1 (4.00) odds.
