Pete Nordsted: Back Arsenal to get the better of West Ham

Pete Nordsted: Back Arsenal to get the better of West Ham

Latest Ogbonna: Juventus not in my future, for now Previous

Betting expert Pete Nordsted has used his statistical analysis to pick out two bets for Saturday's live games, which include Arsene Wenger's men to securing vital away win

This weekend’s Premier League fixtures kick off on Saturday lunchtime with Manchester City taking on Martin O’Neill’s Sunderland at Ethiad stadium

The hosts are priced at a fairly unattractive 1/4 (1.25) with Bet365 and despite their excellent home record the Black Cats could be a tough nut to crack as they are undefeated this season and secured a good win against Wigan last time out.

Sunderland could be worth backing on the +1.75 goal Asian Handicap at 33/40 (1.82). This means that should Sunderland win, draw or lose by a one goal margin then you win your bet.

If they lose by the two goal margin then you receive half of your stake back and if they lose by three or more goals then you lose your entire stake.

In their previous 10 away games to teams of City’s grading they would have covered the handicap in seven matches. Lost half in two and fully lost in only one.

Indeed if we take the previous five head-to-head matches into account, Sunderland have only lost by two or more goals once so this looks like a good value call.

Despite the above I still expect Roberto Mancini’s side to come out on top and they have won eight of their last 10 home matches to teams of Sunderland’s stature. Amazingly they have won the first half in nine of these 10 matches and City can be backed at 4/6 (1.67) with Bet365 to win the first half.

Later in the afternoon Arsene Wenger takes his Arsenal side across London to face a West Ham side that have started the season in very good style.

Currently the Hammers sit seventh in the table, one place and two points above the Gunners after Sam Allardyce’s team recorded a fine 2-1 victory at Queens Park Rangers on Monday night.

However it should be remembered that this season West Ham are yet to face any of the top half sides and Arsenal do have a very good recent away record to teams of West Ham’s stature. That record reads won seven, drawn two, lost one.

Indeed, Arsenal have won three of the last four head-to-head games at Upton Park and I believe they should be too strong for the Hammers. Arsenal can be backed at a realistic looking 10/11 (1.91) with Bet365.
