Europa League Treble: Time for Anzhi to make their mark on European competition

With the Europa League offering ample opportunity for an accumulator on Thursday, Al Hain-Cole has picked out three selections that return 154/25 (7.16) if correct

Anzhi Makhachkala
AZ Alkmaar
Kick off: 17:00 BST
Tip: Anzhi to win at 93/100 with Panbet

Anzhi's only previous European campaign came 10 years ago, and finished in a 1-0 defeat to Rangers in a one-off match at a neutral venue due to security concerns in neighbouring Chechnya. A lot has changed since then though, as heavy investment in the Russian club has led to a team that features the likes of Samuel Eto'o, Yuri Zhirkov, and Christopher Samba, under the canny management of Guus Hiddink.

The transformed Anzhi have taken to the Europa League particularly well, winning all four of their games. Visitors AZ tend to struggle on the road, and have won just once in their last 15 Europa League away ties. Against such star-studded opponents, it seems fair to expect the Dutch side to make the long journey home from Anzhi's adopted Moscow home stadium empty-handed, with odds of 93/100 (1.93) available with Panbet for a home win.

Partizan Belgrade
Kick off: 17:30 BST
Tip: Under 2.5 Goals at 3/4 (1.75) with Panbet

Tromso's excellent home form was the key to their impressive second-placed finish last year, and they have managed to keep that up this season in spite of their woeful away record. Per Mathias Høgmo's side are unbeaten in 14 games in all competitions at the Alfheim Stadion, thanks largely to a miserly defence that has conceded just six goals in that period.

Having failed to hit the back of the net in either leg of their recent Champions League qualifying defeat to to AEL, Partizan have now gone nine games without scoring more than once in European competition. Considering it is six games since Tromso bagged more than one Europa League goal themselves, a low-scoring encounter is surely on the cards in this one. Under 2.5 goals must be the sensible bet then, at odds of 3/4 (1.75).

Dinamo Bucharest
Metalist Kharkiv
Kick-off: 18:30 BST
Over 2.5 Goals at 28/25 (2.12) with Panbet

Dinamo Bucharest crashed out of the Europa League at this stage last year, thanks largely to some unreliable defending. The Romanians were certainly good value for money in their short European campaign though, scraping through the first round 4-3 on aggregate before succumbing to a 5-3 defeat over two legs against Ukrainian side Vorskla. Compatriots Metalist Kharkiv are more than capable of repeating Vorskla's achievement, having managed 18 goals in eight away games in this competition last season.

Dinamo's buccaneering style was in full flow during their 5-2 victory in the first home game of the domestic season: the sixth match in seven at the Stadionul Dinamo that has featured over 2.5 goals. Similarly, nine of Metalist's last 11 away matches have exceeded that same goal margin, while a bet on that market would have been successful in six of their eight Europa League away ties last season. With all signs pointing to a high-scoring encounter, odds of 28/25 (2.12) on over 2.5 goals going in this evening seem surely too good to pass up.
