Pastore backs Messi to defend Ballon d'Or

The Argentine star has nothing but praise for his compatriot, while he feels that Paris Saint-Germain have become a stronger team following their recent transfer activity
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore is convinced that Lionel Messi will win the Fifa Ballon d'Or for a third time following his record-breaking season with Barcelona.

The 25-year-old already won the Ballon d'Or in 2009, while he also received the prestigious individual award in 2010 and 2011 after it was merged with the Fifa World Player of the Year accolade.

"Messi will win the Ballon d’Or. He is the best in the world and he’s getting better and better," Pastore stated at a press conference.

Pastore then went on to discuss the arrival of players such as Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic at PSG, and stressed that the Ligue 1 side have become a better team.

"The new signings will add to our level, especially Thiago Silva and Ibrahimovic," he noted.

The Parisians are currently preparing for their friendly match against Barcelona, with kick-off at the Parc des Princes scheduled for 17:45UTC.
