Cecafa 2016: Harambee Starlets to face Ethiopia in semis

Tanzania won coin toss to finish top of Group B and will now face hosts Uganda Cranes while Ethiopia will battle Kenya

Harambee Starlets will face Ethiopia in the semis of 2016 Cecafa tournament.

A toss of coin was used to decide the winner in Group 'B' after Tanzania and Ethiopia settled to a barren draw in their final match. Tanzania won the coin toss to be declared Group winners. It then means that Kenya, the Group 'A' leaders will face off with Ethiopia in the semis.

Both teams had won their previous matches after each beat Rwanda with a similar 3-2 margin and were tied up with three points and similar goal difference on the table. Each had hopes of getting three points in the last match in a bid to give a range at the Group’s summit but their dreams never came true when they took to the packed stadium in Jinja.

It was a real battle with players from both sides pushing hard in search for a goal to no avail. Even the two minutes of added time into the breather went without any major impact in the game.

The teams came with equal strengths from the tunnel and coaches applied their tactical skills in the second half making notable substitutions in a bid to break the deadlock but the stalemate continued into the final whistle.

However, even with the result, both teams have cruised into the last four where Group 'A' leaders Harambee Starlets and hosts Uganda Crested Cranes wait. The semi-finals will be played on Sunday.
