South Africa will be looking to continue with their solid start to the Chan campaign when they host Mali at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday.

Bafana Bafana eased past Mozambique in their opening game, but the fact that Mali beat giants Nigeria on the same day, makes this encounter a mouth-watering.

The two nations have met in the past, but the current Mali players are a closed book to coach Gordon Igesund and his charges.

However, Bafana will be expected to perform and avenge last year’s Afcon result where Mali knocked Bafana out in the quarterfinals of that tournament.

Although Mali are a closed book to most South Africans, they have a few players that really caught the attention from their first match against the Super Eagles.

Lassana Diarra is one player that should be closely watched, more especially because he has an eye for goal when afforded space and time.

Abdoulaye Sissoko and Adama Traore, both goalscorers in the previous match, will also be looking to add to their tally of goals against Bafana Bafana.

On the other hand, all eyes will be on Bafana’s leading striker Bernard Parker, who scored a brace against the Mambas of Mozambique.

Thabo Nthethe showed his experience and marshalled the Bafana defence well in the first match and he will be expected to give another solid performance on the day.
