Thanks for joining Goal again this evening, it was an absolute pleasure bringing you this encounter, until we meet again next time, I am Ernest Makhaya, cheers!!
Bafana's next assignment is against Nigeria, who take on Mozambique this evening to try and stay in the tournament. Bafana need to get a result from the Nigeria game on Sunday to progress depending on how the Super Eagles play against the Mambas of Mozambique.
That's it from the Cape Town Stadium, not a very convincing display from the South African players, but not a bad result after all given the history between the two nations.
90' + 4'
Yellow Card Lerato Chabango
Free-kick taken a bit low, but Pattison clears with a powerful header, as the referees blows for full-time. South Africa 1-1 Mali.
FREE-KICK FOR MALI!! This is very promising for Mali just outside the left hand side of the Bafana box.
Lerato Chabangu has had a very disappointing game since coming on, and it doesn't look like Bafana will win this enocunter.
Bafana now desperate for a goal, as Mkhwanazi balloons his volley way over the bar as we approach the last five minutes of this encounter.
Diakite delaying the play. Looks like Mali are happy with a point from this clash. However, Bafana will remain top of the log if it ends this way.
Lawrence Siphiwe Tshabalala
Another chance for Mbatha! But his shot lacks power and accuracy as Diakite picks it up easily.
It looks like we are heading for a share of spoils today as none of the two goalkeepers have been tested today.
Diawarra really troubling that Bafana defence, but Mkhwanazi stands firm this time as he blocks his attempted shot for a corner.
Buhle Mkhwanazi tries to shoot from inside the Mali box, but his shot is blocked for a corner. Still 1-1 at the Cape Town Stadium.
Mali will have their work cut out even if they draw this match, because they are still going to face minnows Mozambique in their final game while Bafana should win today to enhance their chances as they are up against Nigeria in their next game.
PARKER!! The Bafana striker receives from Shabba in the box, and he quickly turns before firing a low shot, but Diakite goes down well to make a save.
A decent chance for Bafana to take the lead, but Mbatha fails to pick Parker inside the box. Very poor from the Bafana winger.
Gordon Igesund should consider introducing fresh legs if he is to win this match, perhaps a player like Katlego Mashego should come in to help Parker upfront.
TRAORE!!! Nthethe's clearance not too convincing and it falls on the path on Adama Traore who volleys wide of goal with Khune well beaten. Unfortunate!
KEKANA!! The Bafana midfielder comes close to restoring his side's lead, as his volley goes wide.
South Africa have now made life difficult for themselves now that they have to try and find another goal to win this match.
Edward Jabu Manqele
Asavela Shakespeare Mbekile
Assist Lassana Diarra
Goal Ibrahima Sidibé
Edward Manqele is replaced by Asavela Mbekile, and Parker will be pushed up to play as a top striker.
GOAL!! Ibrahima Sidibe scores with a brilliant goal from inside the Bafana box to make it 1-1. Bafana caught napping there.
Edward Manqele has been very quiet upfront, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him replaced.
Mali having a lion share of possession in the early stages, but Bafana have been solid at the back with Mokeke and Mkhwanazi producing brilliant tackles.
South Africa still lead 1-0 against Mali, courtesy of Bernard Parker's goal from the penalty spot.
The second half is underway at the Cape Town Stadium, no changes from both sides.
I have been impressed by a few players this afternoon. Sissoko being one player that has really lifted Mali back into this game while Mbatha from the South African side has been keeping the Mali defence busy on the right hand side.
That was an interesting first half from both sides, but I think South Africa had an edge over the Eagles of Mali in the first half. Let me know your thoughts about the game on Twitter, @ernestmakhaya, and I will certainly add your comments here.
KHUNE!!! The Bafana goalkeeper spots Diakite off his line and takes the free-kick quickly which hit the wrong side of the net, as we come to the end of the first half. South Africa 1-0 Mali.
MANQELE!!! Oh what a rocket from Manqele, but Diakite punches it up in the air, before catching it. It would have been a great goal. Bafana still lead 1-0.
Great touches from Mbatha on the right, but his final pass lets him down.
SISSOKO!! Off the woodwork with the powerful shot that beat Khune. Bafana should consider themselves very fortunate here. It could have easily been 1-1.
Yellow Card Lawrence Siphiwe Tshabalala
Vuyo Mere fouls Sissoko on the right hand side, and the referees blows for a free-kick. It could be dangerous.
MBATHA!!! Another goalscoring chance for the speedy winger, but he fails to give his shot enough power to beat Diakite, and it is blocked for a corner!!
Siphiwe Tshabalala makes his 87th international appearance, and he is the most experienced player in the Bafana squad right now.
Khune easily collects aerial balls from Mali's set-plays. However, the opponents are often unmarked in the box which could be very dangerous for them.
By the way Bernard Parker has now scored 22 international goals. He is now one behind Katlego Mphela and 10 from becoming the leading all time goalscorer.
Mali now playing with more intent after conceding that goal, but they are yet to penetrate the Bafana defence.
Sidibe!! The Mali player flicks the ball which nearly beats Khune, but the Bafana skipper concedes a corner.
Penalty Goal Bernard Melvin Parker
GOAL!!! Parker makes it 1-0 with a powerful spot-kick and takes his tally to three in this tournament.
Parker to take it!!
Yellow Card Adama Traoré
PENALTY FOR SOUTH AFRICA!! Mbatha brought down by Traore.
Bafana surging forward more often now, with Hlompho Kekana now in the attack. He picks Manqele who brings it back to him, but Kekana's left-footed shot is blocked.
MBATHA!! The Bafana winger receives possession from Tshabalala, he beats one defender into the Mali box, but his shot is very poor and goes straight into Diakite's arms.
Some great defending from Mokeke on the left-hand side of the South African defence to keep Sissoko out of action.
Adama Traore standing on the ball to take the free-kick after a foul on Sissoko by Thato Mokeke, but Traore skies it over the bar.
Tshabalala combines with Manqele upfront, but Shabba's chip goes wide and high of Diakite's goal. Bafana are quick to go forward, but I think they need to be more calm in front of goal. Still 0-0.
A chance for Mali from the corner, but Lassana Diarra is unable to score as he powers his shot wide of Khune's goal. He should have done better. Bafana should defend better though.
PENALTY APPEAL FOR MALI!!! Khune brings Sissoko down in the box, but the referee says corner! I have seen those been given as penalties. Bafana captain a little lucky there.
Nthethe with a clean tackle to break Mali's conuter-attack after the ball was dispossesed from Pattison, and it's Bafana's counter-attack, but Tshabalala's casual shot is saved by Konate.
South Africa knocking the ball around nicely from the back going forward, but no attempt at goal as they still looking for options upfront.
Long range effort from Yaya Semake outside the Bafana box, but it goes wide of Khune's goal. Not a decent shot.
We are underway at the Cape Town Stadium, as both South Africa And Mali attempt to move to six points.
Mali have made no changes to the side that beat Nigeria last Saturday. Diarra, Diakite and Sissoko are the three players to watch in this game.
Let's look at how Gordon Igesund will approach this tough encounter. He has made four changes to the team that beat Mozambique. Vuyo Mere, Matthew Pattison, Lindo Mbatha and Edward Manqele all start today.
South Africa currently top Group A log with three points from their first game, while Mali are second with the same number of points having scored only two goals against Nigeria.
The two nations are about to enter the field before the singing of the national anthems.
