Had very little to do but was beaten by two of Basel's only attempts on target. Made a mess of the corner on the second goal.
Looked overwhelmed at times. Wasn't put under too much pressure from open play.
Set up the opening goal with his relentless work ethic. Pushed forward well in attack.
Had little to do for much of the match. Was up to the task when called upon, with Basel failing to score from open play.
Eager to contribute in attack. Had a hard time dealing with Philipp Degen thoughout, however.
Didn't contribute much in attack, but wasn't asked too, either. Very wasteful with his passing.
Beaten to the header by Sauro on Basel's second goal. Positionally sound, but didn't see too much of the ball in midfield. Came off in the 71st minute.
The engineer in attack. Read the game superbly and his passing was neat and tidy. Set up the home side's goal with a lovely cross.
Caused plenty of problems for the Basel defence with his pace and skill, but sometimes lacked that final ball. Was invisible for large portions of the second half.
Made some nice runs to find open space, but wasn't clinical enough in close. Perhaps wrongfully sent off in the dying minutes after earning a second yellow when attempting an overhead kick.
A bit wasteful with his chances. Handed a gift from Kampl to score his competition-leading eighth goal. Should have doubled their lead early in the second half, missing an open net, and was later forced off through injury.
Superb in goal. Kept them in it on several occasions. Was left out to dry on Soriano's opener but dealt with everything else that came his way.
Horrendous tackle to put his team down to 10 men after just nine minutes.
Strong defensively. His goal put the tie out of reach for Salzburg.
Contributed well defensively in the second half. Had the better of Svento for most of the 90 minutes.
Committed performance from the centre-back. Caught out of position on Soriano's goal, but was fearless in defending the lead. His initial header set up the second Basel goal.
Performed well on the ball, but the early red card prevented him from getting forward too often.
Mohamed El Nenny
Failed to stamp his authority on the match. Went into hiding at times, and added nothing in attack.
Hardly saw any of the ball. Came off before half-time as Basel looked to restore their back line after Suchy's red card.
So strong positionally. Led Basel in midfield, and got back well to defend. His corner set up Streller's opening goal.
A true captain's performance from the striker. Won every ball in the air, making the most of limited service up top. Scored a great header to give Basel their opening goal, and he also went over to settle down the travelling fans during a delay in the first half.
Rarely saw the ball in his 58 minutes of action. Overshadowed by his strike partner, who got on the end of every ball forward.
Fourth striker introduced to the match. Found it difficult to produce with so many bodies in and around the Basel penalty area.
Introduced as a late substitute. Didn't see any of the ball.
On in the 72nd as Salzburg searched for an equalizer, but couldn't make an impact on the match.
