League title chasers Gor Mahia face bottom placed Rangers FC in a must win league encounter at the Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday night amidst the growing pressure to close in the gap on pace setter Tusker FC.

Gor go into this match walking a tight rope after their fierce rivals AFC Leopards registered a heroic victory over Muhoroni Youth on Sunday in Nakuru to leapfrog them to the second spot.

As such Gor cannot afford any marginal error in a match that the stakes are so high and only a win will see them stay in touch with the leading pack.

Croat coach Zdravko Logarusic is optimistic they will come out victorious. “We have to get the three points at whatever cost, we cannot afford to drop points at this crucial hour.”

“The race is becoming tight and tougher. Both Tusker and AFC Leopards won at the weekend and this means we have to win too and my boys understand the high expectations on their shoulder.’’

Rangers have had a rough patch throughout the season and relegation worries looms large but Coach James Nandwa believes maximum points against Gor Mahia tonight will guarantee them safety. “We only have to give our best in the remaining matches and see where it takes us at the end of the league.”

A win will see Gor reclaim the second spot on 49 points, two shy of leaders Tusker and one more than Leopards while a win for Rangers will take their points tally to 23 and a 15th slot.
