An own goal from Eugine Ambulwa and a superb strike by George 'Blackberry' Odhiambo gave Gor Mahia a 2-0 win when the two sides played each other on Sunday.
The win pushed K'Ogalo top of the Kenyan Premier League table as the Shoppers dropped to tenth on the log. The Anthony Mwangi coached side have been lukewarm this season, with their main undoing being the striking department.
Nakumatt have scored just 15 goals in the 17 matches played, and conceding one more. On the other hand, K'Ogalo -under the stewardship of Ze Maria, Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno and now Dylan Kerr, have managed to put the ball in the back of the net 22 times, second best, and conceded just twelve goals.
This record is bettered by only Kariobangi Sharks and Posta Rangers, who have conceded two goals less.
Boniface Oluoch, who was not in the Gor Mahia line-up last weekend, joined the team for training on Monday from compassionate leave, and is available for selection.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Nakumatt: Sammy Okinda has been floppy sometimes in goal and his coach hopes Wednesday will be a good day in office, otherwise, things will be worse for him. Kepha Aswani was dangerous last weekend despite the fact that he did not manage to hit the back of the net, he cannot be let loose.
Gor Mahia: Philemon Otieno did enough to prove his worth in the team, and with Earnest Wendo ahead of him, Otieno will want to show he deserves to be given a chance more often. George Odhiambo did extremely well against the Shoppers on Sunday, and he will want to be the main man once again.
