That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
An impressive and clinical performance by Liverpool who comfortably beat Southampton three-nil at Anfield, after two goals from Mo Salah in the first-half and then a Coutinho strike in the second period to wrap up the three points for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Meanwhile, it was another miserable afternoon for Southampton who once again failed to score and never really looked like getting on the scoresheet today.
FULL-TIME: LIVERPOOL 3-0 SOUTHAMPTON
90' + 3' That's the final whistle!
90' + 1' Still Liverpool continue to dominate and pile players forward here, they want to score as many goals as possible and this Southampton defence just look like they want the final-whistle to be blown now, before their opponents can inflict more damage.
90' There will be a minimum of three minutes of added time played.
87' Attention can now turn to Liverpool's Champions League game against Sevilla on Tuesday night, before then facing Chelsea at Anfield next Saturday. Meanwhile, Southampton will return home to St Marys next Sunday as they face Everton.
84' CLOSE! Firmino goes incredibly close to getting on the scoresheet and making it four-nil, but he drags his shot just inches past the far post. Another player who has impressed for the Reds this afternoon.
83' Not long left to play here at Anfield, can Liverpool go and score another to make it four-nil? Meanwhile, Saints will be hoping to at least grab a consolation goal to take away.
J. Milner
Mohamed Salah
Liverpool
80' There will be no hat-trick today for Salah as he is the final player to be substituted by Klopp, his replacement is James Milner.
M. Gabbiadini
S. Long
Southampton
79' Southampton make their third and final substitution with Shane Long coming off and he is replaced by Manolo Gabbiadini. Both players endured tough losses in mid-week as their respective countries lost World Cup qualifiers, with both missing out on next years World Cup.
76' STAT: Saints manager Mauricio Pellegrino is a familiar face at Anfield, he played 13 games for Liverpool in 2005 and was first-team coach at the club under Rafa Benitez between 2008-10.
A. Oxlade-Chamberlain
S. Mané
Liverpool
74' Another Liverpool substitution with Sadio Mané leaving the pitch, his replacement is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
71' As we enter the final 20 minutes here at Anfield, it is the hosts who are cruising to all three points this afternoon as Southampton struggle to score in another game this season.
J. Ward-Prowse
S. Boufal
Southampton
69' Southampton make a change of their own as well, with Sofiane Boufal being replaced by James Ward-Prowse.
E. Can
Philippe Coutinho
Liverpool
69' That was to be Coutinho's last involvement in the game, as Klopp makes his the first Liverpool change today, coming on in his place is Emre Can.
Philippe Coutinho
Goal
Liverpool
68' GOOOAAALLL! IT’S THREE-NIL! Coutinho finally has his goal after going close a few times this afternoon and the hosts are in complete control here. Firmino's effort cannons off the chest of Forster, and it falls perfectly for Coutinho, who is next to the penalty spot when firing the ball into the back of the net, he simply couldn’t miss!
66' Southampton are struggling to get a touch of the ball at the moment, Liverpool are playing the ball around with ease and look threatening everytime they venture forward today with the Saints defence struggling to cope with the pace and skill of the menacing star talents in the Liverpool team.
65' STAT: Only Kenny Dalglish (1.68) has a lower points-per-game ratio for Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League than Jurgen Klopp's 1.97.
62' CHANCE LIVERPOOL! Coutinho goes incredibly close to scoring a third Liverpool goal, the Brazilian's touch takes it past his marker, his low shot is then fires just inches past the post, with Forster getting nowhere near it.
Oriol Romeu
Yellow Card
Southampton
61' The first Saints player to be shown a yellow card is Oriol Romeu for pulling back Firmino, he will now miss their next game against Everton due to suspension.
58' CHANCE LIVERPOOL! Excellent counter-attack by the Reds from a Saints corner, Coutinho feeds Salah, who sprints up the pitch and then plays a pass to the on-rushing Moreno, but hs loses his balance slightly and the pass isn't the best, which allows the Saints defence to recover in time and the opportunity comes to nothing.
55' SAVE! A terrific pass from Alexander-Arnold feeds Firmino, who looks like he will slot in Liverpool's third goal, but Forster does well to come off his line, make himself big and keep the effort out. It's all one-way traffic at the moment.
C. Austin
D. Tadić
Southampton
55' Southampton make their first substitution of the afternoon, Dušan Tadić is the man coming off and he is replaced by Charlie Austin. Looks like Saints will be going top up front, with Austin and Long now on the pitch.
54' Excellent pressure from Alberto Moreno forces Soares into making a mistake, he tries to play the ball back to his keeper but he gets it all wrong and hands Liverpool a corner. The resulting corner is played short by the visitors, with Moreno eventually firing a shot at goal, but it goes high and wide of the Saints net.
53' STAT: Sadio Mane scored four goals in four appearances for Southampton against his current club Liverpool in all competitions.
50' Much better from Southampton! Lovren was forced into making a superb defensive block in his own six-yard box, as Boufal shows his quality by getting through on goal and his strike at goal had to be blocked by Lovren. The closest that Saints have come this afternoon.
48' Liverpool look eager for more goals here, they have started this second half well and on top, with Firmino, Salah and Mane all linking up nicely in attack. Saints will have to show a lot of improvement if they are to come away with anything today.
46' The second half is underway!
Two goals from Mo Salah hands the Reds a well-deserved lead at the break, after a slow start to the game it was Liverpool showing more intent going forward and a moment of pure magic from Salah handed Liverpool the lead. They then doubled their lead just minutes before the break, after excellent link-up play between Coutinho and Salah. Southampton have it all to do here.
HALF-TIME: LIVERPOOL 2-0 SOUTHAMPTON
45' + 2' That's the half-time whistle!
45' There will be a minimum of two minutes added time played here.
D. Lovren
Yellow Card
Liverpool
43' The first yellow card of the game is shown to Dejan Lovren. This gives Saints a free-kick around 30 yards from goal and a good opportunity for Ryan Bertrand to have a go... Just wide!
Philippe Coutinho
Assist
Liverpool
41' Coutinho showed excellent vision to spot the run of Salah, his pass completely split open the Saints defence and allowed Salah to give Liverpool their second goal of the afternoon.
Mohamed Salah
Goal
Liverpool
41' GOOOAAALLL! LIVERPOOL DOUBLE THEIR LEAD! Salah with the goal once again, his run cuts open this Saints defence and slots the ball past Forster. It was an excellent run by the winger, in behind the visitors defence and the ball played through by Coutinho was inch-perfect, allowing Salah to run onto it and then fire the ball between the legs of the Saints keeper.
38' Not long to go until the half-time whistle here at Anfield, will we see Liverpool double their lead before the break? Or, will Saints be able to muster up an opportunity of their own and score an equaliser?
36' Liverpool are completely on top at the minute and the early good play by Southampton has all come undone by a moment of magic from Salah, which was handed to him by sloppy and relaxed play by Tadic.
33' Salah now has eight goals in 12 league games for Liverpool, matching the same tally reached by Robbie Fowler. The Egyptian has scored an impressive 13 goals in all competitions for the Reds this campaign.
G. Wijnaldum
Assist
Liverpool
31' It was good pressure from Liverpool to win the ball back so quickly and in such a dangerous position, Wijnaldum playing the final ball to Salah who had it all too do, but his excellent strike left Forster with no chance.
Mohamed Salah
Goal
Liverpool
31' GOOOAAALLL! LIVERPOOL LEAD! Mo Salah with another Liverpool goal and what a strike it was! Saints appeared to deal with a corner well, but Tadic then tried to run the ball out of defence, however, he loses it on the edge of the box and after a few passes it ends up at the feet of Salah, who curls a strike into the top left-hand corner from 20 yards out.
30' STAT: Saints have won just four of their last 19 league games, plus they have only managed to score nine goals in 11 matches this season, three of which have been from the penalty spot.
27' Long has barely touched the ball so far for Saints, the service just isn't there for the visitors and the Irish striker is cutting an isolated figure up front at the moment.
25' Plenty of noise coming from the traveling Southampton supporters today, they will be pleased by what they have seen from their side so far this afternoon. However, they haven't showed anything going forward themselves.
23' Coutinho steps up to take the free-kick, but his effort goes high over the bar and doesn't come close to troubling Forster.
22' GOOD SAVE! Forster is forced into making the first stop of the afternoon, to deny Philippe Coutinho from long-range. The Brazilians low effort looked to be heading into the bottom corner and the Saints keeper had to get down quickly to make the save. Davis heads away the resulting corner, but now Liverpool have a free-kick 30 yards out.
20' Neither team has tested the opposing goalkeeper as of yet. Similar to Liverpool games against Huddersfield and Maribor, when they were slow out the blocks before showing their quality later on and putting a few past their opponents.
19' Liverpool have conceded just one Premier League goal in seven home fixtures this season, against Burnley. They are vying to earn three consecutive league victories for the first time in 2017.
16' Still no more goalscoring chances here at Anfield, most of the play is being seen in the middle of the pitch and both teams are struggling to break into their opponents final third. Southampton will be happy at the start they have made so far, conceding an early goal could severely hinder their chances of taking anything back to the South Coast this afternoon.
14' This is better from Southampton, they forced Liverpool into making a mistake and are now putting together a few passes in the middle of the pitch, with Steven Davis and Oriel Romeu trying to dictate play for the visitors.
12' Liverpool are certainly the team on top here, Saints are struggling to get a touch on the ball at the moment and string any sort of passes together. The Reds need to start playing the ball faster around the pitch though if they are to break through the visitors defence, as it is all in front of them at present.
9' CHANCE LIVERPOOL! Mo Salah goes close to opening the scoring here at Anfield for Liverpool, after some poor defending by Saints and Fraser Forster with some questionable goalkeeping. The chance came from a mistake from Virgil Van Dijk, out comes Forster but he's put off by Soares coming over to try and clear the ball. However, Soares completely misses it and the Southampton keeper then fumbles the ball. Eventually it falls to Salah, but his shot is deflected wide and out for a corner, which comes to nothing.
8' STAT: Liverpool are unbeaten at home this season and have lost only two of their last 32 league matches at Anfield (W19, D11, L2).
7' Neither side has started the game in spectacular form, it has been a quiet opening few minutes with both teams struggling to get the ball down and string a few passes together.
4' Looking at the Liverpool attacking line-up this afternoon, it is hard to see anything other than a home victory here. Southampton have struggled to score this season and Shane Long who is leading the line for the Saints this afternoon has failed to score for club or country since the end of May.
2' Early stoppage in play here as Dusan Tadic is down receiving treatment just a couple of minutes into the game. The Saints man is heading off for more treatment here, but he should be fine to continue.
1' We're underway!
The teams are out here at Anfield and kick-off is just minutes away! Stay tuned for all of the match action.
