That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
A perfect start to the new season by Juventus as they clinch a three-nil victory over Cagliari at the Allianz Stadium. Mandzukic and Dybala made it two-nil before the break, before Higuain got on the scoresheet midway through the second half. Cagliari rarely threatened Juve today, however they did have a good 10 minute spell at the end of the first half, when they were awarded a penalty after the referee consulted VAR. The visitors couldn’t capitalise as Farias saw his poor penalty effort saved by Buffon. A comfortable victory for the reigning champions in their opening game.

Goal
Juventus
66' GOOOAAALLL! IT’S THREE-NIL! Higuain is the man on the scoresheet and he extends Juventus’s lead to three-nil tonight, they have wrapped up all three points on the opening day of the season. Alex Sandro squared the ball across goal, a perfect pass into the feet of Higuain. The striker opened up his feet and shifted it onto his left foot, before firing a low shot into the back of the net. Clinical finish.
66' Less than half an hour to be played here between Juventus and Cagliari and it is still the reigning Serie A champions who hold a two-nil lead here.

61' CHANCE CAGLIARI! A deep cross came into the box and it found Faragò who had time and space at the far post, however he lashes his shot high and wide of Buffon's goal! Good chance by Cagliari to pull a goal back, more composure was needed.
59' Good chance for Higuain! The striker took too many touches on the ball before taking his shot at goal, which allowed the Cagliari defenders to get back and block his effort. It was a great turn and touch just inside the penalty area by Higuain, but he then should have taken his shot at goal straight away.
57' Juve supporters are in full voice here at the Allianz Stadium, they are creating a fantastic atmosphere on the opening day of the season. So far it has been a good performance by their side, showing their attacking quality. However, they do look vulnerable in defence.
55' Pjanic is down at the moment so we have a brief stoppage in play, following his collision with Luca Cigarini on the edge of the penalty area. However, it appears to be a minor knock and the midfielder is quickly back on his feet.
52' Meanwhile, Cagliari look like they may still need to sign a few more players before the transfer window shuts, especially in the attacking department were they are looked weak today. Marco Borriello who netted 16 goals in Serie A last season has not featured today and he is expected to leave the club before the end of the month.
50' STAT: Juve have won five of their last six clashes with Cagliari. They are dominating this game so far and it will take something special for Cagliari to get back into this game at the moment. It is all relatively comfortable for the hosts at the moment, a good start to their campaign.
47' OFF THE BAR! Dybala with a fantastic effort at goal, he curls the ball at goal from the edge of the box, but his effort strikes the cross bar. The rebound is followed up by Mandzukic but he can't get enough power behind is header and Cragno makes a good save. It was excellent build-up play by Juve, dominating possession of the ball straight from kick-off and they are almost rewarded with a goal straight away!
46' The second half is underway!
It's all been fairly straight forward for Juve so far and they deservedly hold a two-nil lead at the break after goals from Mandzukic and Dybala. We saw the introduction of VAR as Cagliari were awarded a penalty, after the referee decided to consult use the video technology to change his decision. However, it was a poor penalty by Farias and Buffon made a comfortable save.

Goal
Juventus
45' + 1' GOOOAAALLL! JUVE DOUBLE THEIR LEAD! Dybala makes it two-nil to Juventus on the stroke of half-time! Pjanic played a delightful ball over the top of the Cagliari defence for Dybala who used his pace to beat the defenders to the ball and then power a left-footed effort into the top-right hand corner of the net. Excellent finish by Dybala to get him off the mark for this season.
45' There will be a minimum of one minute of added time.
44' Not long to go until the half-time whistle here at the Allianz Stadium, can Juventus double their lead before the break? Cagliari have worked themselves into the game in the last 10 minutes.
42' Dybala is brought down on the edge of the box in a good position to take a shot at goal. The new Juve number 10 tries his luck with a strike at goal but it didn't have enough pace on it and the Cagliari keeper makes a comfortable save.
G. Buffon
Penalty Save
Juventus
39' BUFFON SAVES! The Juve skipper makes the save from the penalty spot, but in truth it was a poor effort by Farias and Buffon uses all of his experience to make the save. Juve still lead one-nil!
Diego Farias
Penalty Miss
Cagliari
39' PENALTY MISS! Farias steps up to take the penalty, he stops mid-way through his run and his shot is a poor one! Nowhere near the corner of the goal and at the perfect height for Buffon to make a good save. Terrible penalty by Farias!
37' PENALTY GIVEN! The referee has now pointed to the spot after using VAR to change his decision! The Juve players and supporters are stunned, as it does look like Cop went down easily but it doesn't matter now, as the penalty has been awarded! The first time that Video technology has been used in Italian football, can Cagliari grab an equaliser from it?
36' Diego Farias has another chance for Cagliari! His effort his blocked and it goes out for a corner, however there appears to be a foul by Alex Sandro in the box on Cop! The referee has given a corner but is now going to consult the video replay and he may now change his decision!
35' CHANCE CAGLIARI! Paolo Faragò forces Buffon into making his first save of the game and it has to be a good one! Faragò was given far too much time and space in the box to turn and then fire a shot at goal, which Buffon had to pary away.
34' Juve are missing the commanding figure of Leonardo Bonucci here today, Rugani has replaced him in defence and he had misplaced many of his passes already today, unlike Bonucci who was excellent in bringing the ball out of defence and setting up attacks.
32' Dybala is really starting to grow into this game, the Juve looks dangerous every time he touches the ball. The forward found time and space on the edge of the box and he tried to work himself into a shooting position, but the visitors defence do well to get out to him quickly and make sure he didn't threatened the Cagliari goal.
30' PENALTY SHOUT! It's a half hearted penalty appeal by Juventus, the cross came into the box by Lichtsteiner and was met by Mandzukic at the far post but he had two players around him, his header appears to strike the defender and Mandzukic and Higuain appeal to the referee for a penalty. However, nothing is given.
28' Juve are in cruise control here at the moment, playing the ball around with ease and they look dangerous every time they venture forward. The visitors are starting to sit deeper and deeper which is only playing into Juve's hands.
26' Simone Padoin is struggling to mark Higuain here today, the striker is winning all of his headers and bringing the ball down in dangerous areas, as the Cagliari defender is simply not getting close enough to his man.
24' Excellent attacking play by Juve, started by Dybala, the ball then comes out to Cuadrado on the right wing and he has plenty of teammates rushing into the box. However, his cross is a poor one and directed to the far post, going well past all of his teammates, much to their frustration.
21' Shocking backpass by Daniele Rugani to Gianluigi Buffon, it is well away from the keeper and forces the veteran skipper to scramble across and he just manages to kick the ball out for a throw-in, rather than conceding a corner. Sloppy play by the Juve centre-back.
20' Artur Ionita does well down the left wing, winning a corner off Lichtsteiner. However, the ball in is easily dealt with by the Juve defence and then Juan Cuadrado is fouled on the edge of the box to hand possession back to Juve.
19' The atmosphere is electric here at the newly named Allianz Stadium, formerly the Juventus Stadium. Juve will be looking to clinch their seventh successive Serie A title, a truely phenomenal feat if they can achieve it.
17' STAT: Juve managed to score at least three goals at home to eight of the bottom 11 last season – including hitting four against Cagliari. They are off to the perfect start here today on the opening day!
15' It was poor defending by Cagliari so early in the game, to gift Juve the lead. They had got off to a bright start, closing Juve down well and enjoying possession of their own here. However, they now face an uphill battle to get back into this game.
S. Lichtsteiner

Juventus
12' It was a beautifully timed cross into the box by Lichtsteiner, straight into the both of Mandzukic who produced an excellent finish to give Juve the lead early on.

Goal
Juventus
12' GOOOAAALLL! JUVE LEAD! It has taken just 12 minutes for the reigning champions to take the lead here over Cagliari! It was excellent build-up play by the hosts, good possession in the final third, Pjanic played the ball out to Stephan Lichtsteiner on the right wing and he whipped a ball into the box which was met on the volley by Mandzukic. The strikers volley was perfectly placed in the bottom corner of the net, giving the keeper no chance!
9' CHANCE JUVE! It's poor from Cagliari, they were playing the ball around their defence with ease but a short back pass to Alessio Cragno, almost allows Mario Mandzukic a sitter! The goalkeeper can only put it foot through the ball and it hits the Juve striker, but fortunately for the visitors it goes out for a throw-in.
8' Juventus are starting to dominate possession here, however Cagliari are doing well at keeping them in their own half and limiting any dangerous passes into the feet of Dybala or Gonzalo Higuain. The visitors will need to be on their defence today against the attacking brilliance of Juve today and their defensive record is not great in Serie A.
6' STAT: Juventus have won 34 of their last 35 at home in the league. Cagliari have seen over 2.5 goals scored in eight of their last nine in Serie A.
4' A late challenge by Giorgio Chiellini into the back of Duje Cop, gives Cagliari their first free-kick of the game. Slightly too far out for a shot at goal, inside they opt for a chip into the box but Chiellini is there to head the ball clear and the danger goes away. A decent start by the visitors.
2' Early free-kick a good position for Juve, as Paulo Dybala is abruptly brought down on the edge of the box. Dybala and Miralem Pjanic stand over the ball... CLOSE! Pjanic takes it and it goes just inches wide of the post! What a start that would have been.
1' We're underway!
The teams are out here, kick-off is imminent!
Not long to go here at the Allianz Stadium and both teams will be aiming to get their opening Serie A game off to a winning start here. Stay tuned for all of the match action!

The confirmed team news is in, here is how both sides line-up today...
Meanwhile, Cagliari finished 11th in Serie A last season, an impressive feat for the newly promoted side. They were largely helped by striker Marco Borriello, who netted 16 goals in Serie A and 20 across all competitions, but arguably their Achilles’ heel was their poor defence, which saw them concede 76 goals. This was the third worst record last season, with only Palermo (77) and Pescara (81) conceding more goals and they were relegated.
Furthermore, Juve completed the signing of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi this week. The midfielders arrival adding to the likes of Federico Bernardeschi, Wojciech Szczesny, Mattia De Sciglio and Douglas Costa.
Despite appearing weakened in defence, Juve have reinforced their attacking options, and the capture of Douglas Costa could prove to be a brilliant move. They’ve signed him on loan from Bayern with a view to a permanent deal, and he could really impress in Serie A, if he is able to hold down a first team spot. Having added Federico Bernardeschi too, they could be phenomenal going forward.
Juventus have dominated Italian football for the last few years, but they could see their dominance slip this season. Having sold Leonardo Bonucci to rivals AC Milan this summer, they look strong challengers for the title, as do Napoli and Roma. They were beaten by Lazio in the Super Cup on Sunday and have looked vulnerable at the back this summer without Bonucci. However, many would expect them to record a comfortable victory over Cagliari today in their opening game of Serie A.
Good afternoon and welcome to our LIVE match commentary of the Serie A game between Juventus and Cagliari.
