Tanzania inflicted a second defeat on French coach Henri Michel since taking over as Harambee Stars coach after Aggrey Morris's lone goal in the early moments earned the hosts a 1-0 win in an entertaining friendly played at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza, on Wednesday.

The defeat means Coach Michel, who took over the mantle of handling the side from sacked Francis Kimanzi, is yet to win a match with Stars. Michel's first match in charge saw Kenya edged out 2-1 by South Africa's Bafana Bafana at Nyayo Stadium in October.

Kenya, who went into the match minus the services of key players Victor Wanyama (Celtic, Scotland) and goalkeeper Arnold Origi (Norway), found the going tough and conceded in the 7th minute after stand in custodian Jeremy Onyango- who was guilty of the goal Gor Mahia conceded against Thika United on Saturday- fumbled what seemed an easy shot to allow Morris scramble in from a goal mouth melee.

The visitors settled into the proceedings immediately thereafter, and Dennis Oliech and Kemboi tasted Tanzania keeper Juma Kasejja with long range shots. Neither team added to the score line at interval.

On resumption, Michel made quick substitutions bringing in Chris Wekesa, Ayub Timbe and Anthony Akumu for James Situma, Patrick oboya and Jerry Santos respectively. Another substitution for the Kenyan team saw Peter Opiyo being rested for Charles Okwemba.

TP Mazembe striker Ulimwengu had a glorious opportunity to double the lead for Kim Poulsen’s side but fired wide with only Onyango to beat.

The result will pile pressure on the Kenyan coach, who will shift focus on the upcoming Cecafa championships in Uganda and the African Nations Championships (Chan) qualifiers.

This outcome could see Kenya drop further in the Fifa rankings where they currently occupy position 130 globally.
