Another amazing performance from Fraser Forster, along with goals from Victor Wanyama and Tony Watt, hands Neil Lennon his greatest victory as Hoops manager

Fraser Forster Top of the Match

Another world-class display from the English shot-stopper as he stopped Barcelona on numerous occasions.

  • Adam Matthews

    Adam Matthews

Playing out of position in the left-back role, having to deal with the threat of Dani Alves galloping from the full-back area, although Pedro didn’t give the Welshman the kind of problems he was expecting.

  • E. Ambrose

    E. Ambrose

Got over the agony of costing his side a victory against Dundee United and showed composure as wave after wave of Barcelona attack came the Nigerian’s way. He managed to stay solid alongside Wilson and offered Forster the type of protection he required.

  • Kelvin Wilson

    Kelvin Wilson

Developing a real understanding with Ambrose as he was always available to make the crucial tackle for the Hoops. Was never getting overawed by the players in front of him.

  • Charles Mulgrew

    Charles Mulgrew

Moved into a left side of the midfield role due to injury problems and, just like in the Nou Camp, he provided an assist from a set-piece as his corner was headed from by Wanyama.

  • M. Lustig

    M. Lustig

Another great showing in the right-back area for Celtic as he stayed strong and managed to deal with the threat of both Alexis and Alba.

  • Kris Commons

    Kris Commons

Was in an unfamiliar wide right role which didn’t suit the former Derby midfielder as he always seemed to be looking to cut inside on his left foot. He also didn’t offer enough support to Lustig behind him, who had to deal with both Alexis and Alba.

  • Joe Ledley

    Joe Ledley

Had somewhat of a quiet game. Was partnered with Wanyama against Barcelona’s midfield three and the Welshman found the pace and movement from the visitors troubling and ultimately failed support the attack as much as he usually does.

  • Victor Wanyama

    3.50

    Victor Wanyama

Lit up Celtic Park with a superb header from a Mulgrew corner to put the home side into the lead. He was always available in front of the back four to give added protection. His list of suitors will continue to grow after this showing.

  • Miku

    2.50

    Miku

Starting to settle into the Celtic side after claiming his first goal at the weekend, but only had a limited number of opportunities as his side were on the back foot for most of the game.

  • Georgios Samaras
    25
    2

    Georgios Samaras

Was the skipper in the absence of Scott Brown and gave the side the added experience that they required by being able to hold the ball up when Celtic managed to get into an attacking position.

    Tony Watt

Put his name in the stars as he finished off Barcelona with a superb finish to cap off an amazing performance from the SPL champions.

  • Víctor Valdés

    29

    Víctor Valdés

Was let down by his defence for both the goals, but the Barcelona goalkeeper was rarely in trouble from Celtic attacks.

  • Daniel Alves

    21
    2.50

    Daniel Alves

As attacking as ever, especially at the start of the second half when he battled with Matthews to provide crosses into the area. Did get caught out a few times with Mulgrew getting in behind him.

  • Bartra
    6
    32
    1.50

    Bartra

The inexperienced defender didn’t cope well with the atmosphere at times as he struggled with the height and strength of Samaras and almost gifted Mulgrew a goal when he failed to properly clear a ball into the box. Was eventually replaced by Pique.

  • Jordi Alba
    4
    31
    2.50

    Jordi Alba

Got on the backs of the home support as he continually fell to the ground claiming for fouls, but the referee wasn’t impressed by his protests. Beaten in the air by Wanyama for the opening goal. Going forward, however, he offered good support.

  • Xavi
    13
    24
    2.50

    Xavi

As per usual, the midfield maestro continued to pull the strings with some outstanding passing and movement as him and Iniesta linked up, causing the Celtic defence no end of problems. Made a costly mistake near the end to hand Watt the second goal.

  • Andrés Iniesta Luján
    24

    Andrés Iniesta Luján

Along with Xavi he look to pass and move, although he continued to find a wall of Celtic defenders in front of him. The midfielder never got frustrated and played with the same attitude as when he started the game.

  • Javier Mascherano

    Javier Mascherano

Did not look comfortable in the centre of defence, although he did have a couple of crucial interceptions that saved his side. He never looked to venture forward as much as his team-mates in front of him.

  • Alex Song

    50
    1.00

Alex Song Flop of the Match

Very fortunate to remain on the pitch after he made some reckless challenges which could have cost his team. Failed to supply the type of protection his defence required and was non-existent in possession. Hauled off with 15 minutes left to play for Fabregas.

  • Alexis Sánchez
    14
    26
    2.50

    Alexis Sánchez

Once again he found Lustig a handful to get by, but on the rare occasions he did get by the Swede there was no-one to find inside the area and ultimately found himself sacrificed for Villa as Barcelona looked for an equaliser.

  • Lionel Messi
    33
    34

    Lionel Messi

Will be cursing the name of Forster of days to come after he found the Celtic keeper in the same brilliant form as when they previously played in Spain. With chance after chance being saved, the Argentine was frustrated until the last minute when he found the net from close range.

  • Pedro

    Pedro

Had a quiet game, not offering as much attacking threat as his manager would have liked. Found Matthews a handful throughout.
