    José Pinto Colorado

Provided some hairy moments when coming to claim crosses or with the ball at his feet. It would have taken two in the goal to have kept Morales' effort out but two quality stops from Baptista provided some bright moments.

  • Piqué

    Piqué

The centre-back did not have one of his busiest nights in the Barca defence. He got a key touch to turn a Julio Baptista shot wide of the post but missed a glorious chance with a free header inside the other box.

  • Jordi Alba

    3.00

    Jordi Alba

Pushed forward and linked the play intelligently. His speed enabled him to attack the byeline without being exposed defensively, though he did not do this often enough to worry Malaga.

  • Montoya

    3.50

    Montoya

Was very keen to get forward and support Pedro but picked his moments wisely. While his delivery from wide areas may not always have been perfect, he rifled in an absolutely sublime third for the hosts.

  • Xavi

    3.00

    Xavi

Worked the ball nicely as he drifted across the pitch in search of a touch. His distribution was very plain but he pressed hard to win back the ball when he did not have it. Did not offer enough penetration.

  • Andrés Iniesta Luján

Andrés Iniesta Luján Top of the Match

A midfield masterclass from the Spaniard. He got off to a great start with an exquisite pass that was key to the opening goal. He then earned an assist with some lovely interplay with Fabregas, something which was at the heart of his performance.

  • Javier Mascherano

    2.50

    Javier Mascherano

The centre-back was caught flat-footed at times, despite Malaga only getting forward in brief spells. He could not cope with the superior physiques of the opposing forwards and was pushed about too easily.

  • Busquets
    1
    2
    3.00

    Busquets

Pressed incessantly when he was not in possession and used his strength to win the ball back for his team on a number of occasions. He was a readily available outlet throughout in a decent afternoon for the midfielder.

  • Cesc Fàbregas
    4

    3.50

    Cesc Fàbregas

Dropped off the front line and found acres of space in the midfield to help push his team forward. A great run and an equally brilliant finish saw him put Barca two goals up after just 14 minutes.

  • Pedro
    1
    3
    3.00

    Pedro

Gave Eliseu a difficult evening with his lively, intelligent movement. His diagonal runs regularly got him in behind, particularly on the opener too. He was perhaps a bit too reluctant to shoot when getting in himself, though.

  • David Villa
    3
    0
    3.50

    David Villa

Got the game off to a perfect start when he rolled in the opener after just three minutes. He continually found space in behind Jesus Gamez and was a constant threat to the visitors in what could be his last game at the club.

Substitutions

    Éric Abidal

Bid an emotional farewell to the Camp Nou after coming on in place of Pique in the 76th minute.

  • Thiago Alcántara

    3.00

    Thiago Alcántara

Replaced Iniesta in the 55th minute and proved himself an adept passer of the ball in midfield.

  • Alexis Sánchez

    2

    Alexis Sánchez

Brought on in place of Villa with 12 minutes remaining and was quite lively.

  • Willy Caballero

    1
    3.00

    Willy Caballero

Could do nothing to stop Villa from opening the scoring but was clearly wrong-footed by Fabregas on the second. Barca's finishing was of the highest quality but he still commanded his area capably.

  • Jesús Gámez
    0
    1
    2.50

    Jesús Gámez

Was far too slow to close Villa in the wide areas and let him run in behind far too frequently. He did not get many chances to venture forward but he supplied a magnificent cross for Morales' goal on one such occasion.

  • Weligton
    0
    1
    3.00

    Weligton

He was punished for a non-committal tackle when Fabregas made it 2-0. However, he recovered to bring some organisation back into the back line, maintaining a compact defensive line in the second half.

  • Diego Lugano
    0
    1
    2.50

Diego Lugano Flop of the Match

Had no answer for the relentless start from the hosts' attackers. He was guilty of diving in too quickly in the build up to the second goal and was hugely disappointing as he left acres of space in behind him.

  • Eliseu
    0
    1
    3.00

    Eliseu

Failed to cope with the movement of Pedro early on. He allowed the Spaniard to run inside him, playing him onside as he set up the opening goal. He was far more solid after the break and kept Pedro quiet.

  • Camacho
    0
    1
    2.50

    Camacho

Struggled to make his mark on the game as Barcelona completely dominated possession. He spent much of the game chasing around the pitch without ever being able to influence things himself.

  • Joaquín
    1
    1
    3.00

    Joaquín

A hard-working performance from the veteran winger. He always looked to push forwards whenever he got on the ball but seemed to be running into dead ends. However, he did track back to help out defensively.

  • Jérémy Toulalan
    1
    0
    3.50

    Jérémy Toulalan

The Frenchman hunted down the ball well, regularly positioning himself appropriately to make a timely interception. He was calm and composed but could never close out Barca in the middle.

  • Isco
    1
    0
    3.50

    Isco

Found it difficult to influence the game in the first half as Barca retained the ball for large periods. After the break he was far better, creating chances for his team with some clever passing and narrowly missing out on a goal himself.

  • Júlio Baptista
    1
    0
    3.50

    Júlio Baptista

Got into some extremely dangerous positions but was unable to find the back of the net with two of his side's best chances. He put himself about all afternoon and tried to hassle the Blaugrana stars as much as possible.

  • Roque Santa Cruz
    0
    1
    3.00

    Roque Santa Cruz

The Paraguayan did not get an awful lot of service in the first half but when he did he was intelligent enough to hold the play and link up with those supporting him.

Substitutions

  • P. Morales

    3.50

    P. Morales

Brought on for Santa Cruz at half-time and had a decent 45 minutes. He netted a brilliant goal for his side but could not make them more competitive in midfield.

  • Javier Saviola

    1

    Javier Saviola

Replaced Isco with just over 10 minutes remaining.

  • Sebastián Fernández Miglierina

    Sebastián Fernández Miglierina

Came on for Joaquin in the 70th minute but was unable to threaten the Barcelona defence.
