Sofapaka 0-3 Bandari: Batoto ba Mungu stunned in league opener

Goal Kenya.

Bandari joined Gor Mahia, Chemelil Sugar, Ulinzi Stars and Wazito on the victory table of the opening round of matches

Anthony Wambani scored a brace to hand Bandari a convincing 3-0 win over Sofapaka in a Kenyan Premier League match played on Sunday.

Debutant David Kang’atua also announced his arrival at the Coastal City from Sweden with a goal away in Narok.

Bandari was playing under new coach, Ken Odhiambo, who took over from Paul Nkata last December and the three points will be a morale booster to both the players and the bench as they launched their title campaign on a right note.

Wambani gave Bandari the lead just 11 minutes into the game with a beautiful placement after sneaking past the defenders before he managed to bang home his second five minutes later.

Match-hero, Wambua then handed over the scoring boots to King’atua, who hit Bandari’s third in the second half for a convincing win over hosts Sofapaka at Narok Stadium.

The visitors were presented with a golden opportunity to triple their advantage in the 45 minute, but Keegan Ndemi directed his shot way off the target with a begging empty net on sight after he was laid off by Abdalla Hassan.

With a comfortable lead and as the clock ticked toward the final whistle, coach Odhiambo introduced Wycliffe Ochomo in place of Shaban Kenga.

Bandari have now joined champions Gor Mahia, Chemelil Sugar, Ulinzi Stars and Wazito on the victory table of the opening round of matches.
