  This was an encounter in which energy was more important than technique, and the waspish attacking midfielder drove his side on with great vivacity. Was direct with his running and clearly keen to make a big impact, which he certainly did.

  Very much the renaissance man for this reborn Marseille side, and he showed his finishing prowess to create half a yard against Alex to bury the ball beyond Sirigu. Nodded OM level from a corner kick with half an hour played and linked superbly with Valbuena.

  Surprisingly left out of Wednesday’s defeat against Porto, the playmaker was deployed in his favoured role behind a forward two and struggled in truth, missing two very presentable first-half chances before being replaced at the break.

  Produced a moment of outrageous magic to draw PSG back into the game after they fell behind and then smacked a terrific free kick beyond Steve Mandanda moments later. Full of imagination, but at times his team-mates were not on the same wavelength.
