Victory ensured that sugar millers remain unbeaten in Kenya Premier League and condemns former champions to second consecutive defeat

Chemelil Sugar ensured they kept their unbeaten record in the league after ten games with a 1-0 vitroey over Tusker FC at Ruaraka Complex on Wednesday.

The brewers thus relinquish the top spot to defending champions Gor Mahia and suffer their second consecutive league defeat after starting the season on a high.

At Mbaraki Complex in Mombasa, Ulinzi Stars played to a one-all draw with hosts Bandari. Salim Mohammed had given the soldiers a 50th minute lead with a simple tap in from Stephen Waruru’s spade work but Kepha Aswani cancelled out the lead immediately.

The draw does not do much to Ulinzi’s hopes of rising on the standings after winning only one out of ten league games. At Nakuru’s Afraha Stadium, two late goals from KCB earned them their first league win of the season, coming from behind to beat Top Fry All Stars 3-2 exchanging places on the log.

All Stars now drop back to bottom while the bankers continue with their revival, moving to 15th. Geoffrey Muhando had given the bankers an early lead but Ken Owino restored some hope for the home side.

Geoffrey Mwaniki struck from 12 yards out to give All Stars the lead but a lapse in concentration gifted KCB two late goals, Crispinus Onyango scoring in 86th minute while Mungai Kiongera scored with a minute to full time.

At Hope Centre in Kawangware, KRA continued with their good form, beating hosts City Stars 2-1. Liebrian Rosevelt Blaty scored a late winner after opening the scores in the first half. Jimmy Bagaye had pulled City Stars level from the penalty spot but Blaty’s second half goal ensured Ken Kenyatta remains with the three points.

In Mumias, Marwa Chamberi’s late goal gifted Sony Sugar a draw away with a 1-1 draw with Western Stima.
