Club History
Mahindra & Mahindra Allied Company Sports Club was founded in 1950 as a means to provide recreational activities for the workers of Mahindra & Mahindra. Over the past few decades the club has come a long way, especially in recent times, in establishing itself among the big clubs of the country. The Mumbai-based team plays their home games at the Cooperage Ground and now have a strong youth set up with the help of their U-15 and U-19 sides.
The “Orange Brigade”, as they were fondly called before the turn of the century, found it difficult to find their feet in the national league for a number of seasons in the 90’s. Then, the club underwent a complete revamp in 2000 and changed their colours from orange to red. They were renamed as ‘Mahindra United’ the same year, but success still eluded the Mumbaikars until the year 2003. Since then, however, there has been a drastic change in fortunes, and they have 5 trophies in the last 5 years to show for it.
All their dreams came true as their sustained consistency finally paid off, and they won the National Football League and the IFA Shield in 2006. Since that historic triumph, the now “Men in Red” also reached the quarter final stage of the AFC Cup in 2007 and then reclaimed the IFA Shield in 2008.
