Top 5 Chelsea victories under Andre Villas-Boas
1. Bolton 1-5 Chelsea: October 2, 2011
4 goals in the first half hour saw Chelsea wrap up the game earlier than expected. A Daniel Sturridge brace and a Frank Lampard hat-trick saw the Blues coming out of this game as 5-1 victors. Chelsea were quick to get off their mark when a Juan Mata cross found Sturridge in the 2nd minute. The young English international nodded the ball home. The second came goal came just 14 minutes later when Lampard pounced on a ball from Sturridge and struck from 12 yards out. Sturridge added his second and Chelsea’s third ten minutes later as the Bolton keeper could not keep his shot out and in the process turned it into his own net.
Thereafter, Lampard struck again by pouncing on the rebound off a David Luiz’s effort to make it 4-0 in the 27th minute. The home side, however, struck early in the second half with a well taken chance from Dedryck Boyata. Just as Bolton had added some life to the game, Lampard killed it off in the 59th minute to make the final scoreline read 5-1 in favour of the visitors.
