Horror tackles in the Premier League
2. Martin Taylor on Eduardo da Silva
The risk that footballers take when they step onto the pitch putting their bodies on the line was evident when Birmingham City's Martin Taylor lunged into Arsenal striker Eduardo in a Premier League match on February 2008. The City defender made the tackle as early as the third minute which broke the Croatian's leg ensuring that he would not be part of his national team's campaign in Euro 2008. Taylor was sent off and Arsene Wenger called for the defender to be banned from football. Many Arsenal fans believe that this tackle was the turning point in their season's fortunes as they missed out on the Premier League title.
