18. Radamel Falcao
Last season the Colombia striker was not only the best player in the Europa League, he was also one of the outstanding performers in La Liga too. The manner in which he made the transition from Porto to Atletico Madrid last summer look so easy speaks volumes for his talent, and confirms his place amongst the world's striking elite. The scorer of 36 goals in 50 matches in all competitions for Los Colchoneros in his debut season, Falcao was originally signed as an attempt to fill the void left by Sergio Aguero after the Argentine moved to Manchester City, yet the Colombian's performances were of such a high standard that Aguero was soon confined to being just a distant memory. For the second season in a row Falcao was the top scorer in the Europa League, and for the second successive season he was a Europa League champion.
Moment of the Season - Scoring two fantastic goals for Atletico in the Europa League final as his side ran out comfortable 3-0 winners over Athletic Bilbao.

Editor's view - "He had an unbelievable debut season in La Liga, not to mention his superb goalscoring exploits in the Europa League. If he stays in Madrid, he is certainly Atletico's best hope of earning Champions League qualification." - Miguel Churruca - Deputy editor for Goal.com Spain
