1. Ruud Gullit: Chelsea 1996-98
After conquering Europe with AC Milan and a memorable spell with Sampdoria, the Dutchman arrived in London to join to Glenn Hoddle's Chelsea. Barring a few initial hiccups, Gullit settled into SW6 with ease and ended up being a runner-up to Eric Cantona as Footballer of the Year.
In 1996, after Hoddle left to take charge of the England national team, Gullit was entrusted with the manager's role at Chelsea. The Dutchman led his side to their first FA Cup triumph in 26 years in addition to becoming the first non-British manager to win a major trophy in England. Chelsea also finished at a respectable sixth that season.
The following season with Chelsea in a healthy position in the Premier League and Europe, Gullit was shown the door after there were alleged disagreements with the club's board. The Dutchman was replaced by Gianluca Vialli, a player Gullit had brought to England during his time as Chelsea manager.
