1. Joe Cole: 2010-2013
A child prodigy and part of the famous West Ham academy talent, Joe Cole had all the makings of a great player. However injury ravaged after starting his Chelsea career well, he was promptly signed by the Reds, and became manager Roy Hodgson's first signing. Club captain Steven Gerrard even dubbed him the "English Messi."
Just after a season, however he was shipped off to France on loan, and was promptly sold by new manager Brendan Rodgers to West Ham United in January this year after losing patience with his injuries. Clearly Rodgers did not have any hesitation in getting rid of the former Chelsea winger and for good effect, as he never really lived up to his potential.
