1. Chelsea (£123 million)
The West London club’s spending powers have greatly increased since they were taken over by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich in 2003. Traditionally, the Blues have not been heavy spenders in this window, but that has changed in recent times.
They were one of the biggest spenders in 2011 when they splashed out a combined £75 million on the acquisitions of striker Fernando Torres and defender David Luiz from Liverpool and Benfica respectively.
The Stamford Bridge outfit also forked out some £20 million pounds in deals for Gary Cahill, Lucas Piazon and Ryan Bertrand last winter.
