Kolarov's career started in Serbia with FK Cukaricki Stankom. He didn't play there for too long and was signed by OFK Beograd in February 2006. In the summer of 2007, Kolarov was transferred to Lazio for a fee of €800,000. Little did Lazio know that they had made one of their best bargains. He soon found his way into the starting eleven and scored some amazing goals. His first international match came against Finland in June 2007, in a qualifying match for Euro 2008.
Kolarov plays as an attack-minded left back. He is blessed with speed and a left foot that can shoot the ball from distance. He is likened to former Brazilian left back Roberto Carlos due to his characteristic runs down the flank and powerful shots.
