Matthew Upson

Matthew Upson is by no means guaranteed a starting place in Fabio Capello's defence, but his form at the back for West Ham have led to calls for the former Arsenal centre-back to be given a serious chance.
After much hype as a Luton Town youngster, Upson failed to carve a regular place in Arsene Wenger's Arsenal side following a £2 million move and after a series of loans found himself at Birmingham City where he started to flourish and earned a move to West Ham.
Predominately left-footed, Upson could well slot into the left side of a centre-back pairing if John Terry's continued poor form continues.
Did you know?
Upson went on loan to Crystal Palace as a youngster but was sent back after failing to win a place in the Eagles first-team.
