Roberto Mancini unfazed by Manchester City's poor away form ahead of trip to Aston Villa

Italian believes club are playing well on their travels but stats tell a different story

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has insisted he’s not worried about his side’s away form despite winning just once in their last six trips away from the Etihad Stadium.

The Manchester outfit currently lie just two points ahead of city rivals United at the summit of the of league table.

City last took all three points after a hard-fought victory over Wigan saw them run out 1-0 winner, with their previous win coming on November 5, but Mancini believes his side’s performances have deserved a higher points tally.

 “We knew it was impossible to score three goals in every away game. Sometimes you can lose these games” the 47-year-old told reporters.

"But we didn't deserve to lose any of these games. At Sunderland we had 70 per cent possession and lost to an offside goal in injury time.

"At Everton we had 70 per cent of the ball and had all the shots. At Chelsea it was the same."

On Sunday, City travel to Villa Park to take on an Aston Villa side who have three former Sky Blues in their ranks; Shay Given, Richard Dunne and Steven Ireland. Mancini however he feels their links with their former side will have no relevance on the game.

Mancini added: "This is Manchester City against Aston Villa, not Dunne, Ireland and Given,"

The Italian also confirmed that Yaya and Kolo Toure will return to the club immediately following Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations final, when Ivory Coast take on Zambia.
