Beckham heaps praise on China after visit

The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has cherished his time in Asia during an ambassadorial visit but is keen to swap suits for boots again

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder David Beckham has expressed how much he enjoyed his time in China during a ambassadorial visit.

The former England captain was in the country to promote the Chinese Super League, whose reputation was dealt a massive blow after the country's Football Association recently found 58 people guilty of involvement in match-fixing.

PSG's January signing is the nation's first ever ambassador for football and thoroughly enjoyed his time in Asia.

"Honestly, I loved this trip to China. Especially the welcome I received and the cities visited," the Englishman told Paris Saint-Germain's official website.

The global superstar was greeted by the usual hysteria of screaming fans but the midfielder was quick to turn his attention back to football matters.

"I must admit that I'm itching to put aside the suit and put my boots on again," Beckham added.

Paris Saint-Germain are top of Ligue 1 and will face Montpellier after the international break ends on March 29.
