thumbnail Hello,

La Foundation Eto’o will receive this year’s Cameroon Professional Society Award…

The Cameroon Professional Society (CPS), an organisation of active Cameroonians in the diaspora based in the USA, will present its 2010 annual award for best charitable work to Inter striker Samuel Eto’o’s foundation called La Foundation Samuel Eto'o, for its laudable social engagements in Cameroon.

The CPS was struck by the efforts of Eto’o’s foundation in gathering money and collective energies, via its numerous partners, to better the lives of the disadvantaged populations in Cameroon.

Eto’o’s foundation throughout this year participated in the promotion of education, integration and training of youths in Cameroon. The foundation also takes an active part in the actions of the One Campaign Movement sponsored by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, aimed at promoting peace and human rights throughout Africa.

In the coming years, Eto’o’s foundation will be considering joining the movement of Desmond Tutu, the UN agencies and other media partners to promote the struggle against racism in sports circles, according to reports published by Cameroon’s news outlet Journal Du Cameroun.

The CPS believes that this award destined for Eto’o’s foundation will positively affect young people across the African continent.

After largely investing in youth training in Cameroon, Eto’o launched his foundation in June 2006. The foundation’s major aim is football and business, but priorities have also broadened to include other social engagements in the central African country’s slums.

The foundation recently announced that it has pushed six aspiring Cameroonian footballers into the Barcelona Football Club training facilities. Other activities have yielded the building of a training centre in Kribi and the delivery of two ambulances equipped with operating rooms at the Cameroon’s Department of Health.
