Brazil Legend Branco In Kolkata
Just when people thought that the World Cup was over, it seems to be an exception for the city of Kolkata, almost always. Five days after the world’s greatest show on earth got over, a former winner landed in the City of Joy.

Claudio Ibrahim Vaz Leal aka Branco, better known to many as the free-kick specialist, is in town to judge a football reality show. Branco, who is most remembered for his 35-yard screaming free-kick against Netherlands in the 1994 World Cup, has played club football in Brazil, Portugal, England, Spain and Italy.

The former Brazilian left back alongwith Brazilian legend Romario will team up with Indian coach Subhash Bhowmick to build a team of amateur players that shall compete against the mighty Mohun Bagan.

For this purpose, Bhowmick has handpicked 46 amateur footballers from 19 districts all over West Bengal. These kids will now train under Bhowmick, Branco and Romario before they go on to play for their team against Mohun Bagan, led by former India international Dipendu Biswas.

The reality show, which will be aired on Mahua channel in Bengal, is being produced by popular reality show concept holders Endemol Group.

Speaking about the concept, Mr.Pandey from Endemol group said, "This is by far the biggest reality show in India, leave alone Bengal. We have brought football legends who are famous world wide, just to train the kids as they get their dream opportunity to play against the best and the oldest football club in India."

Brazilian Soccer legend Branco said, "I came from a poor background and I thank god for giving me the opportunity to become a footballer. These 46 young kids get this fantastic opportunity to train with us and also play against the best team in their country which is just great."
