The Selecao were jeered by the crowd during their 2-2 draw with England on Sunday but the Zenit attacker says he accepts their displeasure

Brazil forward Hulk has insisted that he will respect fans' right to boo their team after his side were jeered during their 2-2 draw with England.

The Selecao have only won one of their last five games and were held to a share of the spoils by the Three Lions at the Maracana despite enjoying the majority of the game's chances and 1-0 half-time lead.

Followers have grown restless at the recent poor run of form and have began to voice their discontent but the Zenit star maintains that he and his team-mates are doing their utmost to please their support.

"We respect the opinion of the fans and hope to do the best for the national team," said the 26-year-old told reporters.

“I get through [the jeers]. It's something I can't take it personally, because it isn't. I have not played in Brazil before and many do not know my style of play.

"It would have been great to score. It was the first time I played at the Maracana, with the Selecao. It was a dream, unfortunately we could not win."

Paulinho, who scored the equaliser to clinch the draw, admitted that his side were disappointed not to have won after dominating Roy Hodgson's side.

"I had the opportunity to score and I did," the 24-year-old told Globo.

"Of course, our goal was to win. During the first half we were of a higher standard than the England squad, but during the second half they balanced it out a bit.

"We gave a good performance in front of a big crowd."
