Jagielka to call on memory of Spain victory ahead of Brazil clash

The England and Everton defender is looking for a similar display to that of the 1-0 win over the world and European champions, while admitting he has not watched Neymar in action

Phil Jagielka has called for his England team-mates to step up and repeat the heroics on show against Spain in 2011 when the Three Lions host Brazil on Wednesday evening.

The 30-year-old Everton centre-back was pivotal in shutting out the world and European champions in a friendly meeting in November 2011, and Jagielka is determined to claim another important result when the five-time World Cup winners Brazil travel to Wembley.

"This is a high stakes game," he told reporters. "That Spain game wasn't make or break but because we won and kept a clean sheet it turned into a massive positive.

"It's a similar situation now. Whether I get to play, or someone else, it is about gaining experience from a great test."

The likes of both Ronaldinho and Neymar have been named in Luiz Felipe Scolari's first squad of his second spell as Brazil coach.

Ronaldinho, 32, and Neymar, who turns 21 on Tuesday, both find themselves on the opposite ends of the international experience spectrum, however the latter is rather an enigma for many of the England squad.

"I don't know a lot about Neymar," Jagielka said. "We don't see a lot of footage. He plays in Brazil so it is tough for us.

"But we have video analysis people when we meet up with England and they will have plenty of footage for us to review.

"They will pick out his good points and bad ones. I am sure the good points will be going on for hours."
