Thiago Silva hits back at Brazil boo-boys
The Paris Saint-Germain defender believes supporters should not be so expectant, as Mano Menezes' young side build towards World Cup 2014.
Brazil centre-back Thiago Silva has called for patience to be shown from fans of the national side after the Selecao were booed in an international friendly last month. The narrow 1-0 victory over South Africa was overshadowed by barracking from supporters unhappy with Mano Menezes' team, following on from a disappointing Olympic final defeat to Mexico.
Ahead of Brazil's double header against Iraq and Japan, the former AC Milan star appealed to fans to get behind the five-time World Cup winners.
"The less [boos] we hear, the better for us," Silva was quoted as saying by Globoesporte.
"Idols and phenomena are born only every 15 years. Not all the time will there be born a Ronaldo, a Romario or a Bebeto."
However, Silva conceded the squad would have to cope if more protests materialised during the friendly matches being staged in Sweden and Poland, as their build-up to hosting World Cup 2014 continues.
"We need to know how to deal with it all and to try to listen less," he stated.
