Danny Blind excited to link up with Louis van Gaal

The former Netherlands international has confirmed his pleasure at becoming Oranje assistant, and was also delighted at the reunion with his former boss

Danny Blind has hailed his reunion with new Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal as 'incredible', after it was revealed that he is set to become the former Bayern Munich boss' assistant.

The 50-year-old, who had been working as part of Frank de Boer's backroom staff at Ajax, has also confirmed his dream of reuniting with his former club boss.

"I've always had the intention of doing something with Louis [van Gaal] someday," he told ad.nl. "If it is then possible at the highest level, in the Dutch national team, that's incredible."

Van Gaal replaced previous boss Bert van Marwijk on Friday as the national team coach, after the Oranje's disastrous Euro 2012 campaign ended with no wins out of three.

Blind played 42 games for Netherlands between 1986 and 1996, scoring one goal.
