Michel Platini: France Players' Actions In World Cup 'Deplorable'

UEFA president Michel Platini has made it clear that he's in full support of the France Football Federation's decision to suspend Patrice Evra, Nicolas Anelka, Jeremy Toulalan and Franck Ribery for their rebellion against Raymond Domenech during the 2010 World Cup.
"It's important to take sanctions when something like this happens. I hope that the bans of the players involved will be held up," was Platini quoted as saying by France Football.
"This is the first time and it will also be the last time that I discuss this subject. I'm voicing my opinion here as the former skipper of France's national side and not in my position as UEFA president.
"The players have to realize that they're not just players, but that they also have a role as ambassadors of the nation. The image of the players of the national side in South Africa has been deplorable and humiliating for France and the national team."
Anelka received an eighteen-match ban for his role in the matter and opted not to appeal. Evra did appeal his five-match ban though. Ribery (three-matches) and Toulalan (one-match) bith accepted their bans.
