Cyprus and Montenegro played out a 2-2 draw on Saturday night, a result that virtually rules each side out of the qualification race.
Cyprus started the better of the two sides, and it was no surprise when Michalis Konstantinou put them ahead after 13 minutes. They continued to dominate the first half, and increased their lead on the stroke of half-time, through Chrysostoumos Michail.
Montenegro, however, had not given up yet, and a second half double from supersub Dejan Damjanovic earned them a deserved point, as the match ended 2-2.
As a result, Cyprus remain in fourth place in Group 8 with five points, while Montenegro are a further point behind. Neither have a realistic chance of qualifying, given that Ireland in second are on 13 points.
