Top and Flop: Mohun Bagan 0-1 East Bengal

The Red and Gold got the better of their bitter rivals courtesy a world class strike from the young Lalrindika Ralte.
Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

Although the goal-scorer Lalrindika Ralte stole all the limelight, it was once again Armando Colaco's old guard Abhijit Mondal who came in the rescue of his old gaffer in the high-voltage face-off. Starting from the early minutes when he saved two one-on-one chances against Eric Muranda and Yusa Katsumi, he was always on top of the proceedings and saved his citadel in some tense moments. After a few goof-ups early in the season, Abhijit seems to have returned to his very best and produced yet another top class performance.

The Kenyan forward of the Mariners failed to impress once again as he was heavily marked by the East Bengal defense by the experienced duo of Uga Okpara and Arnab Mondal. He was fed a brilliant through ball by Odafa Okolie, but he shot straight at the onrushing custodian.
